Do you make everything at Crixa Cakes?

Yes, everything is scratch-baked on-site. Scratch-baked means our cakes are made from flour, sugar, butter, oil, chocolate, or whatever basic ingredients they require - not from a package cake mix. It also means that we make all of our own doughs, like puff pastry, danish, strudel and pie doughs, rather than purchasing them ready-made.

Does Crixa Do Wedding Cakes?

Yes, our elegant and tasty special occasion cakes are often used for weddings. Crixa cakes are scratch-baked using high-quality ingredients from around the world. Our large-size 12" round cakes will serve up to 40 people. Many customers choose a variety of our cakes, along with an assortment of pastries, for their wedding events.

Does Crixa ship its products?

No. Crixa does not currently ship its products.

Does Crixa use organic ingredients?

Crixa's use of pure ingredients and slower hand-made processes isn't new or trendy - it's the way our better tasting baked goods have traditionally been produced. Crixa uses organic ingredients whenever they meet our quality standards and are not price-prohibitive.

How Do I Request a Crixa Cakes Donation?

Please send us your request for a Crixa Cakes donation at least one month before your Not-for-Profit organization's event. Please include your organization's Tax-ID.

Crixa Cakes donations are in the form of $30 Crixa Gift Cards.

We will choose a limited number of Not-for-Profit organizations for donations each year.

How do I get what I want when I want it?

The best way to get the Crixa Cakes pastry, cake or pie that you really want, when you want it, is to order it. Most items on our current menu can be ordered with an advance notice of one to four days.

Our Daily Specials can also be ordered for pick-up the same day (until sold out).

How do I order a Crixa Cake?

If you want a particular type of cake on a particular day, we ask that you place an advance order.

Only whole cakes from our Advance Order and Birthday Cake menus can be advance ordered.

6-inch and 9-inch Cakes

• Advance orders for 6-inch and 9-inch cakes must be placed at least 2 days in advance, and no later than noon.


• We require a 50% deposit on all 6-inch and 9-inch cake advance orders.


• Deposits are non-refundable for orders canceled within 2 day production window.

12-inch Cakes, Pavlovas, and Large Orders

• Advance orders for 12-inch cakes and large advance orders must be placed at least 4 days in advance, and no later than noon.


• We require full payment on all 12-inch cake, pavlova, and large advance orders.


• Payment is non-refundable for orders canceled within 4 day production window.

Cupcakes

• Advance orders for cupcakes must be placed at least 4 days in advance, and no later than noon.


• Minimum order: Standard-size - 12, Large-size - 10

• Maximum number of cupcakes per advance order: Standard-size - 48, Large-size - 50


• We require full payment on all cupcake advance orders.

How do I order a Crixa Pie?

If you want a particular type of pie on a particular day, we ask that you place an advance order.

• Only whole pies from our Advance Order Menu can be ordered.
• Our pies vary according to season and from week to week, depending upon availability and quality of ingredients.
• Advance orders for pies must be placed at least 24 hours in advance, and no later than noon.
• Earliest pick-up time for pies is 11:30 AM.
• Daily Special pie by the slice - maximum of 4 slices per customer.
• We require a 50% deposit on all pie orders.
• Deposits and payments are non-refundable for orders canceled within 24 hour production window.
• Pie orders for delivery require full payment.

What does Crixa mean?

Crixa is lapin for crossroads. Lapin is the language of the rabbits in Richard Adams' novel Watership Down. In the book Crixa is the center of Efrafa, the rabbit warren. It is located at the crossing point of two bridle paths.

In Berkeley, Crixa Cakes is at the crossroads of Adeline Street and Shattuck Avenue on the site of an old horse stable.
